Ai for Marketing | Guide on Ai Tools for Marketers

The introduction of conversational tools like ChatGPT took the world by storm and made it pretty clear that generative AI is going to have a larger impact on our lives and is definitely here to stay.

But was it the first AI tool?

Well definitely no. The evolution of AI started much earlier than Sam Altman.

History of AI | A Brief Introduction

The usage of Artificial intelligence in day-to-day aspects of life was something nobody could have imagined until steve jobs made it a reality.

The introduction of Siri in 2011 started the evolution of Voice assistant models. This evolution was followed by the introduction of Cortana and Alexa in 2014 and accompanied by Google voice assistant on 18th May 2016.

It was a remarkable leap in the history of artificial intelligence. However, these voice assistants were considered Weak AI models because they just gave the illusion of human intelligence but couldn’t think like an actual human being.

Back in 2016, Sundar Pichai also confessed that the evolution of artificial intelligence will have a much bigger impact than the invention of fire or electricity.

Tips For Using AI in Marketing

[Tip 1] – Start by Identifying the Root Problem

Look at what your business needs and identify the marketing activities that can be done using AI. This could be anything like building websites, optimizing content, paraphrasing product description pages, summarising long-form content, SEO, etc.

We asked marketers about using AI for product research and here’s how they responded:

  • 28% of marketers use AI to summarize text into key points.
  • 52% of marketers use AI for conducting product research.

You can use AI for any of these marketing activities. However, make sure to add that touch of human element to all these activities as AI is just a tool and even the most perfect tools don’t guarantee correct results.

[Tip 2] – Choose the Right AI Tools for Your Problem

The market is now flooded with a wide range of AI tools. There is a new AI tool coming into the picture every day. Therefore, choosing the right AI tools is critical for your business.

Look what your business needs. If you are into content creation then look for tools like Jasper or paraphrasing tools such as Quillbot.

Make sure the tool you choose has an active community and 24*7 technical support for a smooth transition.

You can also take help from communities like Quora and Reddit while choosing the right AI tools. Look out for customer reviews and connect with people on Linkedin if they are using similar tools.

[Tip 3] – Gain expertise in crafting effective prompts

Tools like ChatGPT, Dall E, and Midjourney are pretty useful but they generate output based on prompts. Therefore, asking the right questions is critical while using such tools.

You can ask ChatGPT to create Midjourney prompts for an image that you want to generate. However, since they are language models, defining the image properly can greatly impact the output. Always give as many details as possible. The more specific the prompts, the more refined the output becomes.

Why isn’t everyone adopting Generative AI?

Generative AI is the future but the market of AI has developed so rapidly that even tech entrepreneurs are hesitant to adopt this new technology mainly due to the challenges that come with artificial intelligence.

[Reason 1] – Inaccurate Information

AI results are not 100% accurate as it is a language-based model and does not have access to real-time data. It also has a lot of grammatical errors so one cannot simply use AI content right off the bat.

[Reason 2] – User Acceptance

Not everyone is comfortable with interacting with chatbots. The need for human interaction is something that we all desire especially when emotions are involved and while seeking customer support service. So the world is just fully ready to take that leap.

[Reason 3] – Excessive Dependence on AI

SEO Experts, Video editors, Marketers, Social Media managers, and other experts have spent years refining and polishing their skills in their respective fields. They became hesitant to use AI and they don’t want to be dependent on AI models and they fear that they will become rusty if they won’t practice their skills. However, AI is not here to replace any specific person or profession. AI is a tool and it should be used as a tool to enhance work productivity and get things done at a faster rate.

The bottom line

Generative AI, represented by tools like ChatGPT, has made a significant impact on our lives and is undoubtedly here to stay.

Today, generative AI is widely used in various marketing applications, such as content creation, data analysis, social media marketing, and image processing.

While AI adoption is growing, some challenges, such as inaccurate information and user acceptance, hinder its widespread adoption. Nevertheless, generative AI continues to shape and revolutionize the world.
